Wood-plastic Profiles Are Still Improving

Because of the hot market of wood-plastic products at present, new and old manufacturers have launched one after another. Because of cost considerations, many manufacturers directly used the extruder of extruded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) profiles to extrude wood-plastic profiles. Generally speaking, it can also operate normally. However, there are still some problems due to the differences of extrusion raw materials.

The transformation of old equipment. When extruding wood-plastic profiles, granulation is usually the first step, and many extruders are designed according to powder feeding. If granular materials are added, some faults such as machine crash may occur. In this case, the general modification of feeding system can solve the problem.

(2) Loss of equipment. Due to the existence of vegetable fibers, there will be some organic acids and moisture in the raw materials. At the same time, foreign substances may be mixed in the purchased raw materials and recycled wood-plastic products, which are visible to the corrosion and wear of equipment.

(3) Drainage steam. Because of the water absorption of plant fibers in raw materials, there will be a certain amount of water vapor during extrusion. If the water content is too much, the physical properties and appearance quality of products will be affected, so higher requirements are put forward for the main engine's water vapor discharge capacity.

(4) Different extrusion quantity. Wood-plastic products are mostly thick-walled or solid products, which put forward more stringent requirements for the extrusion volume of the extruder.

_The difference of shear force. Unlike extruded PVC profiles, extruded wood-plastic profiles require low shear and high conveyance, which requires screw design of extruders.

In a word, special extruders or existing extruders should be used for wood-plastic profile extrusion.
