Characteristics of Wood-Plastic Composites
Wood-plastic composites are based on high density polyethylene (HDPE) and wood fibers, which determine their own properties of plastics and wood.
1) Good machinability
Wood-plastic composites contain plastics and fibers. Therefore, they have similar processing properties as wood. They can be sawn, nailed and planed. They can be completed by using woodworking tools, and the nailing force is obviously superior to other synthetic materials. Mechanical properties are superior to wood materials. The nailing force is generally three times that of wood and five times that of particleboard.
2) Good strength properties
Wood-plastic composites contain plastics, so they have better elastic modulus. In addition, due to the inclusion of fibers and the full mixing with plastics, it has the same physical and mechanical properties as hardwood, such as compression and bending resistance, and its durability is significantly better than that of ordinary wood materials. Compared with wood, wood-plastic materials and products can resist strong acid and alkali, water and corrosion, and do not propagate bacteria, and are not easy to be moth-eaten and grow fungi. Long service life, up to 50 years.
4) Excellent adjustable performance
Through additives, plastics can be polymerized, foamed, cured, modified and other changes, thus changing the density and strength of wood-plastic materials, and can also meet the special requirements of anti-aging, anti-static, flame retardant and so on.
5) It has the stability of ultraviolet light and good coloration.
6) Its greatest advantage is to turn waste into treasure, and can be recycled and reproduced 100%. Can be decomposed, will not cause "white pollution", is a real green environmental protection products.
7) A wide range of sources of raw materials
The main raw materials for the production of wood-plastic composites are high density polyethylene or polypropylene. Wood fibers can be wood flour, rice bran or wood fibers. In addition, a small amount of additives and other processing aids are needed.
