1. Plastic wood can replace or partly replace wood.
2. China's forest stock accounts for only 2.9% of the world's total, far from meeting the production and living needs of 22% of the world's population. The market urgently needs a product to replace the use of wood.
3. With the rapid development of China's economy, the demand for forest products is increasing, and the contradiction between supply and demand is becoming increasingly prominent. At present, the world consumes 0.58 cubic meters of timber per capita per year, while China only consumes 0.29 cubic meters. China's annual demand for forests and their products is converted into more than 300 million cubic meters of resources, while the annual reasonable supply of existing forest resources only accounts for about 60% of the demand.
4. On the other hand, in the next 5-10 years, the national population will increase by about 11 million annually, and the economic growth rate will exceed 7% annually. This has put forward higher requirements for the already poor timber supply, and urgently needs a product to replace timber. Facts have proved that plastic timber is the only one.
5. The world is short of timber. The self-sufficiency rate of Australia and the United States is 90%. The self-sufficiency rate of China is 35%, and that of Japan is less than 20%. The top three timber imports in the world are the United States, China and Japan. China needs more wood substitutes.
6. At present, the domestic timber demand has reached more than 330 million cubic meters. According to the national forest cutting quota issued during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, only 140-150 million cubic meters can be provided annually, that is to say, China still lacks 150-160 million cubic meters annually.
7. Assuming that 3% - 5% plastic wood is used instead of wood in the current 15-160 million cubic meters of wood gap in China, the usage of plastic wood in China should be about 45-7.5 million tons. At present, the actual production capacity of plastic wood in China is only about 200,000 tons.
We might as well carefully consider and estimate what the future of our plastic wood industry will be like if only 10% to 15% plastic wood is used instead of wood in the current 15-160 million cubic meters of wood gap in China, through our efforts, support from government departments and publicity of comprehensive utilization of resources by the whole society.
In short, the development prospects of plastic wood industry are not only good in China, but also good in the world. This is not only because of the excellent characteristics of the product itself, but also because of the significance of recycling resources and the important contribution to environmental protection. As an ideal environment-friendly material, wood-plastic composites have low cost, and can be reused and recycled. They are gradually replacing some products that pollute the environment. At the same time, we should not only have enough understanding and confidence in the unique advantages of wood-plastic products, but also realize that as a new material, it is not omnipotent, and there are some defects like this or that. Only when we have a correct understanding and scientific and rational utilization can we promote the healthy and vigorous development of the industry.
