How This Made:Composite Decking

The composite decking is made of wood and plastic. Wood particles can be wood chips and wood fiber chips. The plastic part can be an original or recycled plastic material. 

There are two main processes for creating composite decking.  One process is extrusion. This is a molding process.Raw materials are mixed and maintained in a relatively certain size and shape.

The second process is called compression molding.This is a physical bonding process in which the molten material is placed in a wood grain mold. They compressed in a high temperature and high pressure environment.
