Some artificial zeolites can be added to the polymer. This aluminosilicate molecule captures powders and absorbs odors from materials. The adsorbent can capture small organic molecules that produce odor through a large number of crystalline voids in the powder. Molecular capture adsorbents have been successfully applied to polyolefin extrusion pipes, injection and extrusion blow-moulded utensils, insulating packaging materials, extrusion packaging and sealing materials. Molecular adsorbent powders can also be added to plastics as dehumidifiers to remove moisture.
Extruded products of different sizes and shapes increase the diversity of wood-plastic composites. When profiles do not require continuous sheet structures or complex structural design of components, wood-plastic profiles can be formed by injection or moulding. Processors sometimes have to face the problem of how to fully fill wood-plastic materials in the process of processing. To solve this problem, they need to reduce the amount of wood filler to increase the fluidity of melt.
Because 200 degree C is the upper limit of the processing temperature of wood-plastic composites, some resins with melting point over 200 degree C, such as PET, can not be used for wood-plastic composites. Water vapor will degrade the properties of composites and help to breed microorganisms, so it is necessary to remove water vapor before using wood fillers. Before processing, wood fillers should be dried, and the moisture content after processing is generally required to be less than 1-2%. At present, wood-plastic composite processing machinery requires equipped with feeding equipment, drying equipment, extrusion equipment and forming equipment, as well as some necessary downstream equipment such as cooling water tank, traction equipment and cutting equipment.
